I THINK I’ve made a publishing decision…

Standard

self_publishing1

If you read my post a few weeks ago, you know I have A Chance to Leave the Self-Pub World…

I think I’ve finally made a decision.

Drum roll please……………………….

I’m going to STAY put, self-pub, indie, unrepresented. Not gonna take the publisher’s offer. Not gonna sign the contract.

You might think I’m crazy. Here are the 3 main reasons for my decision:

1. The publishers that contacted me are extremely new and unheard of. They publish a LOT of erotica, which my book is NOT.

2. I worked really hard for my Amazon and Goodreads reviews and I didn’t want to lose them.

3. I’ve done pretty well marketing for myself, and after researching the publisher (and contacting their authors), I was led to believe that their marketing wouldn’t be any better than my own.

This doesn’t mean I’m not opening to signing a contract in the future- with a publisher more fitting for my novel and I. But if that never happens, I’ll be fine 🙂 The self-pub world IS pretty amazing, after all.

WordPress Fantasies…

Standard

wordpress-love

Number 1 fantasy? Every person who follows me on WordPress writes me an Amazon review for THE WAITING ROOM.

[that would be over 1,100 people…]

Fantasy #2: every person who follows me on Twitter then writes a review as well.

[almost 3,000 people]

Fellow authors- do you have these daydreams as well?! I mean, I could go on and on…every single person who has liked my author Facebook page (btw, when I reach 500 likes I’m doing a signed book giveaway!), every single person who I’m personally friends with on Facebook…every single person who I’m actually friends with…every single family member.

WordPress friends- go ahead, make my fantasy come true, haha!

-Alysha 🙂

Another amazing review from another amazing book blogger!

Throughout the ages, the basic questions of humankind have been, “What is the meaning of life?” and “What happens when we die?” Alysha Kaye’s debut novel, “The Waiting Room,” changes that dynamic – it seeks to provide a possible answer to what happens after death, and will leave you asking, “What is the meaning of death?”

I am so thankful to Kaye for blessing me with a free pre-release copy of this book to review. It was a serious page turner and I had a hard time putting it down. It was also a book that I had a very difficult time not discussing with my friends and family, as I knew so many who would love it. (In fact, I had to dish – and share – this book with my mom.)

To put this book in a genre, I guess I’d have to call it a “paranormal romance,”…

Better Early Than Late: When pub dates go wrong…

The Waiting Room on Amazon

If you’ve self-published, you probably know the exasperation of CreateSpace and Amazon.

In my case, I wanted to make sure my novel was out on July 1, the date which I’ve advertised everywhere. CreateSpace warns that the print process sometimes takes up to 5 days…so, of course, I uploaded 5 days before the 1st.

And then my book magically appeared on Amazon a day later. Friends and family excitedly posted on my Facebook and I deflated in my humid, Texas apartment.

“Well….better early than late!” My friend Nathan graciously pointed out. I drank three mimosas at brunch and decided to go ahead and let the world know: my book is available!

Here are the links, hope you check out THE WAITING ROOM 🙂
