Teacher by day, author by night! Yes, I am one of those crazed, glasses-wearing, frizzy-haired English teachers trying to save the world from their/there/they’re catastrophes.
I actually never thought I’d end up teaching. I interned at a news station and a publishing house before landing a soul-crushing marketing job. That disaster led me to apply for Teach for America—best experience of my life. I lived on Oahu for two years and fell absolutely head-over-heels in love with my students and my profession. Teaching is for the insane, that’s for sure, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Now I’ll be teaching at my alma mater in Kyle, Texas (tiny town right outside of Austin). Can’t believe I’m making the leap from 7th graders to 9th graders, but I’m excited.

I feel ashamed for not being as enthusiastic a teacher as you are.
I’m from Mauritius, our educational system differ to the extent that we do not have specialist teacher for anything below the 7th grade.
